How can I help and get involved in Mississauga?

There are different ways in which you can get involved in Amnesty International's human rights work in Mississauga.

You can become an active member of Amnesty International and join AI - Group 130 in Mississauga by participating in the meetings and/or volunteering to carry out certain tasks in between meetings. You can help out with public events or join the Group's long term Action File work. If you are interested you can move into coordinating a specific area of the Group's work. Please go to MEETINGS or CONTACT US for further information about meetings.

If your are not able to come to meetings, but would like to assist the Mississauga Group in their work, please go to ACTION FILE , where you can find appeal letters that can be copied and sent off.

Another way of being actively involved as a member of Amnesty International in your community is by joining one of Amnesty’s nationwide, specialized networks. By joining a network you can work in your own home by receiving cases on certain types of human rights violations, from specific countries or about specific groups of individuals who are a common target of human rights violations. You can opt to extend that work by taking these cases and the information about it to related groups in your community, for example your workplace, church, trade union or educational institution. To get more information on the different networks, please go to the national web site at www.amnesty.ca .

If you decide that you would not like to be actively involved as a member of Amnesty International at this point, you can still be of great support to Amnesty's work in Mississauga by giving a donation or by attending special public events. Contact us at (905) 270-9297 or at infoamnestymississauga@gmail.com.
